Carefree captains: Southwest Fla. boating clubs eliminate the hassles of ownership
Feb 26, 2014 | NewsDick and Loretta Pinkett warmed under late afternoon rays while they relaxed at the bar on their boat. They cruised the backwaters and floated out to the Gulf. They pulled a 29-foot pontoon boat, the Grand Entertainer, up to Parrot Key Caribbean Grill for lunch on Fort Myers Beach. When the couple and a few friends returned to the dock in Bonita Springs, they stepped out of the boat and got on with their evenings. No cleaning. No refueling. No tying up to the dock.
As members of Bay Water Exclusive Boat Club, the Pinketts have their choice from a fleet of 21 boats whenever the mood to cruise strikes.
“They ice us up and send us off,” Loretta said. “When we come back, we walk off. We love the convenience.”
