Boating Day Checklist | Everything You Need for A Great Day Out on The Water

Dec 23, 2019 | Lifestyle

A great thing about being a part of a boat club is that many of the things that go into preparing for a boat day are already taken care of. Between the cost of storage and insurance, plus ongoing maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep – taking care of a boat can be a real hassle. When you are part of Bay Water Boat Club, you simply have to call ahead to reserve your boat and it will be ready to take out on the water. With all the hard things taken care of, here are a few simple things you need to enjoy your day out on the water.

Dress the Part

Be sure to dress comfortably and come prepared for a long day out on the boat. Obviously, for a day out on the water you will want to wear your bathing suit but consider wearing some light layers if it is a windier day. Even in the colder months, the temperature in Southwest Florida is often in the high 80s or 90s, and the average UV index can get quite high as well – so be sure to always wear plenty of sunscreen (bring extra to reapply) and wear sunglasses & hats to protect your face and eyes.

Stock Up on Food & Drinks

When you take out a boat with Baywater Boat Club, we conveniently provide coolers and ice with every trip. So, all you need to bring is whatever food and drinks you want! When spending all day out on the water, it’s important to stay hydrated, so making sure you bring enough bottled water for everyone on the boat is a must. Since our boating reservations give you access to the boat from 8 AM to 5 PM, it can be a long day out so be sure to pack enough snacks to keep you and your whole group satisfied.

Fishing & Fun Gear

Depending on what kind of boat day you want to have, there are a lot of items you can bring to help you have the best boat day possible. If you want a day of fishing, be sure to bring your poles and tackle. If you are looking for a more leisurely day, you can bring tubes for a day of fun and floating on the water. If you want to explore around the water and maybe see some fish, you could bring underwater goggles or binoculars, and a waterproof camera like a Go Pro to capture your best moments.

Plan Your Route

All that’s really left to do is decide where you want to go! To make the most of your time on the water, have a plan of where you want to go ready so you can get moving right away. Because Baywater Boat Club is centrally located in Bonita Springs, there are plenty of places to go all around the Southwest Florida – whether you want to head south to Naples or north to Fort Myers Beach, or check out any of the fishing spots in between.
